Community Recreation Fund
Investing $2.1 million in places where our community comes together
The Annual Plan and Budget 2026/27 includes a new $2.1 million Community Recreation Fund to improve community recreation spaces across Circular Head.
The fund will support two major projects:
- West Esplanade Foreshore Park, Smithton
- Kings Park Playground, Stanley
These projects have one thing in common. They have both been identified by the community as important places for families, children and visitors, and they support the long-term goals of Circular Head Vision 2050.
Rather than waiting for large grants that may never come, Council has chosen to redirect resources and staff towards projects the community has told us they want to see happen.
By delivering both projects together, Council can achieve better value through shared planning, purchasing and project delivery, while making real progress this financial year.
Where are we up to?
The projects are now underway behind the scenes.
Over the coming months we'll be engaging with young people in Stanley (on the Kings Park project), working on designs, planning works, ordering materials and locking in the details needed before construction can begin.
As milestones are reached, we'll update this page and share progress through our Facebook page, e-newsletter, the Western Echo and other Council communication channels.
