Early Years Learning
The early years of a child's life are a critical time for growth, development, and learning. In our region, a wide range of opportunities support children aged 0 to 5 and their families - from early learning centres to play-based programs and school readiness initiatives. These programs are delivered by dedicated schools, community organisations and the library all working together to give children the best possible start.

Children's University
The University of Tasmania (UTAS), through the Peter Underwood Centre, facilitate the Children’s University program alongside partnered schools in Circular Head. Children’s University is an international model, originally developed in the UK and now present in all Australian states excepting Queensland. The model celebrates engagement by children and young people (7-14 years) in informal learning, fostering their confidence and nurturing curiosity through a wide range of learning opportunities outside the school curriculum. This extracurricular learning is recognised and rewarded through graduation ceremonies across the State each year.
If your school would like to know more about Children’s University, please contact the team on CU.Tasmania@utas.edu.au.
