White Hills Waste Transfer Station
The White Hills Waste Transfer Station is where you can take waste and recycling that can’t go in your kerbside bins.
It’s a central drop-off point for both residents and businesses in Circular Head.

How it works
When you bring waste to the transfer station:
- General waste is transferred to the Port Latta landfill
- Recyclable materials are separated and sent for processing
- Green waste is collected for appropriate disposal
Staff are on site to guide you and make sure waste is sorted correctly.

What you can bring
The transfer station accepts a wide range of items, including:
Common Recyclables
- Glass bottles and jars
- Cardboard and paper
- Plastic bottles and containers
- Aluminium cans
Other Recyclables
- E-waste (anything with a cord or battery)
- Batteries (domestic and car batteries)
- Mobile phones
- x-rays (small quantities)
- Paint (small quantities)
- Fluorescent tubes and light globes (domestic quantities only)
- Vapes
- Blister packs e.g. old pill packs (no pills, no syringes, no pill bottles)
- Gas cartridges
- DrumMUSTER agricultural containers (containers must be triple-rinsed or pressure-rinsed, clean, and free of lids before disposal)
- Fire extinguishers
- White goods (fridges, appliances)
- Used oils (vegetable and motor oils)
- Tyres
Green Waste
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
- Small branches
Wood and Timber
- Wood and timber only (no fabric, mirrors, metal fittings, plastic components or concrete footings)
General Waste
- Household rubbish that can’t go in your bins
What can’t be accepted
Some materials require special handling and can’t be dropped off at the transfer station, including:
- Hazardous or controlled waste
- Contaminated soil
- Liquids
If you’re unsure, contact Council before bringing your waste.
Fees and Charges
- Most household waste is free for Circular Head residents when they come to the transfer station
- BUT, please note that a Waste Transfer Station contribution is included in rates to support this service
- Commercial customers are charged for waste disposal

In partnership with Paintback, White Hills Waste Transfer Station is a permanent drop-off location for you to bring your unwanted paint and packaging – and it’s free to drop off!
Council accepts silage wrap for disposal at the White Hills Waste Transfer Station in small quantities.
Large volumes of silage wrap can become problematic for Council to handle. Customers are asked to deliver only small quantities at a time and only during the week Monday – Thursday. Deliveries outside of these times can cause issues with bin capacity. As a guide, Council can only accept 2 x ‘bulka bags’ of silage wrap per week per customer. Businesses that generate more silage wrap waste than this are encouraged to contact Council to gain access to the Port Lata Landfill.
In cases of after hours emergency such as fire, call 000. For other after hours issues, hazardous waste incident, break-in, property damage (where site security is compromised) Council can be contacted on (03) 6452 4800.
