Sharing Short Film Connection Remains with the Community This Harmony Week

Today, those involved in creating Connection Remains came together to celebrate the launch of the short film — a First Nations Acknowledgement to Country created through strong partnership, shared vision, and deep respect for Country.

While Connection Remains has previously been shown at this year’s Australia Day Awards Ceremony and the Celebration of Education event, it was important to bring together the people who helped bring the film to life. The community gathered at the Duck River Pavilion Theatrette to watch the film and celebrate this shared achievement.

Now, during Harmony Week, we are proud to share Connection Remains more broadly with the wider Circular Head community - a fitting time to reflect on connection, respect, and inclusion.

The film reflects Council’s commitment to recognising and honouring the rich history of Circular Head and the ongoing connection to Country. This Country has always been a place of connection. As Circular Head Council, we wanted a meaningful way to show that this connection remains strong and enduring.

Circular Head Council worked in partnership with the Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation to produce a film that can be shared at significant community events and gatherings.

The film acknowledges that when we come together as community to show that the Connection that existed been the tribes of the North-West, has always been and will continue to be, important on this country where we live, work and play.

This film project was made possible with support from the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council. We sincerely thank the Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation, particularly Rochelle, Camilla, Skye, and Stephen, for generously sharing their knowledge and stories. We also thank Mason Doherty for his beautiful imagery and for helping bring this vision to life.

Connection Remains is a powerful example of what can be achieved when we work together - guided by respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to community.
