New reading resources to support adult learners
New reading resources are now available at the Smithton Library to help adults in Circular Head build their reading skills and confidence.
Through the 26Ten Learn for Life Smithton project, and in consultation with Libraries Tasmania, a set of Drop-In Series books has been purchased to support adult literacy learning in our community.
The books are written especially for adults who are learning to read. They use everyday stories and situations to help people practise reading and better understand what they read.
The resources will be used by volunteer tutors at the Smithton Library in one-on-one sessions with adult learners.
Circular Head is a great place for people who want to build their reading, writing or maths skills. There are local people and services ready to help.
Community members can also get involved by volunteering as a tutor and helping someone else learn.
If you would like help with reading, writing or maths, or if you would like to volunteer, support is available locally.
