Agenda Unpacked | October 2026
Circular Head Council meets this Thursday 15 October at 6pm at the Council Chambers, 33 Goldie Street, Smithton.
The agenda is now available, with updates on projects, services and activities across Circular Head, as well as reports and recommendations for councillors to consider.
What's on the agenda?
Child and Family Learning Centre
Councillors will consider taking the next step towards donating Council-owned land at 33A King Street, Smithton (near ANZAC Park) for the proposed Child and Family Learning Centre. If supported, this will begin the required public notification and consultation process. It is not a final decision. Council will consider the outcome of consultation and the relevant implications in a further report before determining whether to proceed.

How are we going with waste?
The monthly performance report includes some interesting figures about our waste services. In 2025-26, the amount of waste diverted from landfill increased from 12.4% to 21.7%, supported by the introduction of FOGO and Recycle Rewards. There's also information about kerbside collections, public waste collection, recycling, FOGO and the White Hills Waste Transfer Station.
What else is happening across Council?
The monthly performance report gives an update on Council projects, services, finances and activities. This month's report includes updates on CHArts, Seniors Month, Stanley Bicentenary preparations, development application approvals and more.
Questions raised by councillors
The agenda includes answers to questions raised at the previous meeting, covering road maintenance responsibilities, planned works at the Davis and Nelson Street intersection, the Stanley Truck Wash, Port Latta Landfill, and playground upgrades at King's Park and West Esplanade.
Reports from committees
Councillors will also receive minutes from the Circular Head Education and Training Consultative Committee. You can read these in the agenda to find out what the committee has been working on.
Did you know?
An agenda is not a list of decisions already made. It includes reports, background information and recommendations to help councillors understand the issues before discussing and voting on them. You can read these reports too.
