Circular Head Greening Strategy

Planning for a Leafier Future

Circular Head Council is preparing a Greening Strategy to provide a guiding framework for the inclusion of green infrastructure such as street trees and landscaping in future planning, design, and maintenance of public spaces in Smithton, and Stanley. This is a long-term, strategic document —it is not a detailed plan for immediate planting or landscaping works, but a guide for future priorities, coordination, and decision-making.

Led by Council’s Environment and Sustainability team, the strategy will help ensure that future projects are well-aligned with community needs, climate resilience, and sustainable land management.

Why a Greening Strategy?

The strategy is intended to:

  • Provide clear direction on the role of green spaces in urban areas
  • Support future decisions about street upgrades, subdivision designs and capital works
  • Complement existing Council strategies and plans, such as the Open Space Strategy and Environmental Stewardship Plan
  • Ensure a consistent approach to enhancing liveability, , biodiversity and visual amenity

Community Input Welcome

Council is currently seeking community input during the draft phase of the strategy’s development. Feedback received will help shape the final document.
