Circular Head Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Gardner as its new General Manager, commencing in early July 2025.
Mr Gardner brings more than 20 years of public sector leadership across the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, having held senior roles in local and central government, as well as in the private and not-for-profit sectors. He is currently the General Manager of South Wairarapa District Council in New Zealand.
Mayor Gerard Blizzard welcomed the appointment and acknowledged Acting General Manager Andrew Wardlaw for his valued contribution during the interim period.
“Andrew has provided steady and professional leadership, and we sincerely thank him for his service to the Council and the community,” Mayor Blizzard said.
Mr Gardner is known for his forward-thinking, community-first approach, and has led councils through significant reform, emergency responses, and infrastructure planning. His leadership style focuses on transparency, high-quality service delivery, and partnering with the community.
“Local government is, in my eyes, one of the most rewarding career choices a public servant can make,” Mr Gardner said.
“We are accountable to our public for services that deliver real value and significantly impact daily lives. I am truly thrilled to be joining a community that is clearly invested in the wellbeing of those around them.”
Council looks forward to welcoming Paul Gardner to Circular Head and beginning this next chapter with a continued focus on community outcomes and responsible leadership.
