Council Meeting Outcomes - April

At the April Ordinary Meeting, Council made several key decisions focused on long-term planning, better communication, and improving services for the community.

  • Council adopted a new Strategic Asset Management Plan to guide how community assets like roads, buildings, parks and drainage will be managed over the next 10 years, helping ensure services remain sustainable into the future.
An updated Vision 2050 was also adopted, adding a new Governance theme to strengthen leadership, accountability and financial sustainability while keeping the community’s long-term vision unchanged.

  • Council also approved the Draft Communications and Engagement Strategy which will now go to public consultation starting on 1 May. This will give residents the chance to help shape how Council communicates and engages with the community.

  • Council noted the Quarterly Waste Report which showed that Circular Head recorded its best result yet for keeping waste out of landfill, with more being diverted through recycling, FOGO and the container refund program. This is a great result for our community and shows that small changes at home make a real difference. Every tonne sent to landfill comes with a State Government waste levy - a fee Council collects through waste charges and rates and passes directly to the Government. The less waste we send to landfill, the lower these costs are for our community. We’ve made a strong start, but there is still more to do, and Council will continue working with the community to help us keep improving together.
