Council’s fee and charges apply to a range of everyday services and facilities across the municipality. This includes things like animal control, building, plumbing and planning approvals, health and environmental services, fire risk abatement, waste and landfill services, community and recreation facilities such as Swirl, Smithton Wharf berthing, cemeteries, road and engineering permits, vehicle and traffic permits, and other service-related activities.
All fees and charges are reviewed as part of Council’s financial planning to make sure they are up to date and reflect the cost of providing these services. This review also helps inform Council’s Long Term Financial Plan and supports the ongoing delivery of services.
Following this review, Council adopted changes to some fees and charges at its 18 December Council Meeting. Not all fees have changed, but all have been assessed. Any updated fees will take effect from 1 January 2026.
