Draft Street Tree Management Policy and Guidelines

At its June meeting Council endorsed a Draft Street Tree Management Policy and Street Tree Management Guidelines to go out for public consultation.

Street trees are an important part of urban areas and are known to have many social, environmental and economic benefits. The Policy and Guidelines aim to recognise the long term investment that street trees are to a community, and to help Council to make confident and consistent decisions around street tree planting and maintenance procedures.

The Draft Policy and Guidelines can be found here and your opportunity for comment using the form below will be open from 3 July – 18 July 2019.

Draft Waste Strategy

2019 - 2024 Draft Waste Strategy

In May 2019, the draft Waste Strategy 2019-2024 was approved by Council to go out to public consultation. It’s now time for you to tell us if you think we’ve got it right!

This strategy aims to achieve a 50% diversion of waste from landfill by 2024 and seeks continuous improvement in the way Council manages waste.

Key actions included in the draft strategy:

  • Explore the possibilities around a kerbside organics collection
  • Investigate the opportunities for an enclosed ‘tip shop’
  • Further explore an expanded kerbside recycling collection to rural areas
  • Review the tip ticket system
