Interested in future directions about local parks, sports facilities, or the Circular Head War Memorial Swimming Pool? Or have something to say about recreation activities you would like to do in Circular Head and Waratah-Wynyard Council areas?

Both Councils have today launched the joint Open Space, Sports and Recreation  Plan with @leisure Planners recently visiting the main facilities and being briefed about both Council’s policies and plans.   

The community and stakeholder engagement has now commenced with a webpage set up to for people to keep up to date with what is happening on the project and links to different ways to have your say.

Options to get involved include:

  1. Make a quick comment on the project via www.warwyn.tas.gov.au/yoursay or www.circularhead.tas.gov.au/yoursay
  2. Fill in a survey on line via the above websites or at Council.
  3. Make a comment on either Council’s Facebook pages www.facebook.com/WaratahWynyard or www.facebook.com/CircularHeadCouncil
  4. Send us your thoughts in writing, as a submission.
  • Come to a community/stakeholder workshop to discuss the project. Dates and locations are available on both Council’s websites, and included below:
  • Comment on the plan when it is in draft. Leave your name on the websites and we can contact you, or please check the websites for project updates.

    The Plan will provide:

    1. An open space, sport  and recreation classification hierarchy based on catchment and function;
    2. Standards for supply of open space, sport and recreation grounds, facilities and asset;
    3. An open space, sport and recreation supply and demand analysis;
    4. Master planning for identified key open space, recreation facilities and/or sports grounds.  Specifically:
  • A comprehensive community engagement processes; and
  • A prioritised and costed set of actions to achieve overall open space, sport and recreation vision and goals.
  •  Services and facilities to be examined under the plan include: recreation grounds and facilities, museums, public halls, public toilets, community centres, skate parks, the Circular Head War Memorial Swimming Pool, walking tracks, cemeteries, public gardens, nature strips, boat ramps and others.
