This year’s Mayor’s Education Fund Bursary has been awarded to Chloe Bryan.

The Mayor’s Education fund was established in 2002 to assist Circular Head students to go on to further study by helping offset some of their costs.

One $5000 Bursary is awarded each year and applicants are required to demonstrate that they would find it difficult to access further education without the funding support.

Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam said choosing a recipient is always extremely difficult.

“This year’s selection panel noted the high standard of all the applications, in particular the high marks of some of the candidates,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“We do indeed have some very talented young people in our community.”

Chloe is undertaking her second year of an Arts/Law degree at the Hobart campus of the University of Tasmania.

As part of the Arts degree, Chloe will major in International Relations.

Mayor Quilliam said Chloe is interested in pursuing a career path in legal education and would like to help small communities access education on areas of the law such as their rights and responsibilities in regard to the police, theft and cyber-safety.

“Chloe has been a volunteer at Jane Franklin Hall, raising money for cervical cancer and also intends to volunteer with the Red Cross ‘Mates Program’ this year,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“She enjoys sports such as netball, tennis and badminton. She also enjoys bushwalking, fishing and reading and is interested in history.

“We wish her well with her studies.”
