Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam has encouraged the public to provide feedback for the Draft Forest Infrastructure Plan.

“This plan is all about ensuring Council takes a strategic approach to any future development in the Forest community, particularly in relation to infrastructure,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“For that reason, Council would like to hear from members of the public about the plan.”

The Draft Forest Infrastructure Plan describes Forest as “the centre of a strong, close knit and friendly rural community” and states that “Council wishes to, over time, improve the streetscape and amenity of the village for both residents and visitors to the area, in order to help strengthen the ‘sense of place’ for this community.”

“The initial stage of the development plan has been to consult with a wide section of the Forest community, through Council’s website and other means,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“Now we would like the Forest and wider Circular Head community to have their say on the future direction of this important part of our municipal area.”

Key recommendations from the development plan include improving pedestrian links, the establishment of a public toilet and bus shelter, a review of stormwater infrastructure, improvements to landscaping and lighting and traffic and signage.

The community is invited to view the draft plan and make written submissions and comment on the recommendations.

Copies of the plan are available for viewing at the Forest General Store, at Council offices and on Council’s web site. Comments can be posted via Council's website at www.circularhead.tas.gov.au/yoursay, on Council’s Facebook page or submitted in writing to The General Manager, Circular Head Council, P.O. Box 348, Smithton 7330.

Comments will be received until Friday 7 February 2014 (closing at 5pm).
