Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam said Council wants the community to take the lead on four proposed locations for dog exercise areas in the community.

“As part of a review of Council’s Dog Management & Animal Control policy Council wishes to hear what the community has to say about the areas and whether they work for everybody,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“In declaring these areas we need to ensure that we have the balance right in providing for dog owners, while ensuring other people area able to use them as well.”

The four proposed declared dog exercise areas are:

Mayor Quilliam said Council was also seeking general views about animal control considering it State Government legislation for Council to be involved.

“Therefore the public is welcome to offer its view on whether we have the balance right between education and enforcement of animal control,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“I look forward to seeing the public taking this opportunity to provide its view.”
