Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam said Council plans to start works on significant improvements on King Street in Smithton from the middle on this month.

“These works will provide a significant improvement to both vehicle and pedestrian movements on an important route in Smithton’s town centre,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“Council will be working with affected businesses and services on King Street to deliver prompt and timely information on the redevelopment and to create minimal disruptions to business, traffic and pedestrians.”

Planned improvements of the $720,000 project include:

Mayor Quilliam said Council was looking at a number of ways of keeping business owners and the public informed during the works.

“Council will be providing regular updates through our website, in the Council office, on social media and through the media,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“Council’s Works Plus team will also be onsite to assist with parking and other matters.”
