"There has been conjecture over a number of years about access to power between Woolnorth and Marrawah with the latter often experiencing problems and difficulties accessing power infrastructure," Mayor Quilliam said.

"What this investment will mean is that farmers will be able to convert their farms from beef to dairy or from low to high intensity.

"The flow on effect of this will mean more jobs, increasing the reliability of power supply into the area and other benefits."

Mayor Quilliam said the Harcus River Road power upgrade also had the potential to flow on to Arthur River, which was another area for future growth.

"With power outages affecting the Harcus River Road area only just yesterday, this investment will mean that farmers will be able to get on with the job and increase productivity and expand their operations to meet increased demand," Mayor Quilliam.

"This can only be seen as a win-win situation for farmers, residents, industry and the community."
