Circular Head General Manager Greg Winton said the Circular Head Council was proud to be the first Tasmanian Council to adopt a Family Violence Clause as part of ongoing negotiations in a new Enterprise Agreement with staff.

“Council is well aware of the impact of family violence can have on the community and has been proactive in accepting this clause as put forward by the Australian Services Union,” Mr Winton said.

“Once negotiations are complete and the Enterprise Agreement is passed, this clause means Council will be providing additional training to contact officers to deal with such issues, the ability for employees to alter positions or contact details if required and granting access to existing leave or discretionary leave if required.”

Mr Winton said the clause had been added thanks to a collaborative and cooperative approach to this year’s Enterprise Agreement negotiations.

“With negotiations reaching a close, I would like to thank the ASU, other bargaining representatives and Council staff for their hard work in this process,” Mr Winton said.
