Waratah-Wynyard and Circular Head General Manager Greg Winton today announced that both councils would be accepting free e-waste collection to tie in with collection at other sites this weekend.

"While both councils are not part of the formal e-waste collection being held this weekend, we have decided to be involved as part of our ongoing commitment to the environment," Mr Winton said.

"E-waste is often difficult to dispose of and it is pleasing that both councils are able to offer this service to our residents."

Items that can be accepted include computer equipment, home office equipment, mobiles, electronic games and entertainment equipment. However whitegoods and household appliances cannot be accepted.

Waratah-Wynyard residents can drop off the items free of charge at the Wynyard Transfer Station, Goldie Street, Wynyard on Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 5pm, while Circular Head residents can drop off items at the White Hills Transfer Station, Smithton between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
