Mayor Daryl Quilliam indicated today that he had discussed the speculation with a representative from Gunns Ltd and has been assured the matter was unfounded.

"I understand that Gunns Ltd is not entertaining any job losses; the speculation was simply a rumour. Like any successful business, continuous improvement in the operation model should be considered. I think this may have been incorrectly interpreted to mean the shedding of jobs" said Mayor Quilliam.

"I sincerely hope this speculation will be dispelled quickly" suggested Mayor Quilliam.
