Circular Head Council has unanimously agreed to wait until mid October before determining how to fill its General Manager vacancy.
Circular Head Council has unanimously agreed to wait until mid October before determining how to fill its General Manager vacancy.
The decision acknowledges the direction on possible resource sharing determined by Waratah-Wynyard Council on Monday evening.
Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam said resource sharing would bring efficiencies that would improve service delivery in the neighbouring municipalities.
"With a national skills shortage, pressure to increase rates and ever expanding demands on local government, we support exploring avenues that would give the Council an edge in dealing with these issues. I have no doubt by working collaboratively we can make both councils stronger and better," Mayor Quilliam said.
Mayor Quilliam said there was a unique opportunity for Circular Head and Waratah-Wynyard Councils to lead the State in efficient and effective provision of local government services.
"Given this unique opportunity, it is now appropriate to undertake a detailed analysis of the steps that are needed to achieve this outcome ", Mayor Quilliam said.
Waratah -Wynyard Council General Manager Greg Winton had until last week been employed by Circular Head Council for the past six years.
