WHITE HILLS TRANSFER STATION

White Hills Transfer Station was established for the community of Circular Head and reduces the need for residents, commercial business and other community organisations to visit landfill sites.

Residents can unload waste at the Transfer Station into large open bins. These bins are transported by contractors to Council's Landfill site located at Port Latta

Upon arrival to White Hills Transfer Station you must report to the gatehouse, where you will be asked about the type of waste you are disposing of and the White Hills Operators will then direct you to where you may dispose of your waste.

To ensure everyone's health and safety there are guidelines in place when visiting the White Hills Transfer Station, for example, restrictions on use of the open top bins at the Waste Station prohibit trucks from utilising tipper mechanisms to unload waste into these bins. Enquiries regarding disposal of waste carried by tipper vehicles and the options available can be directed to White Hills Transfer Station (03) 6452 4896 or to Circular Head Council on (03) 6452 4800.

Council encourages you to recycle at White Hills Transfer Station to reduce landfill - check out the website "Recycling Near U" which is located within the Planet Ark Website for more information on recycling in Circular Head. Recycling collection is provided to mayor urban centres fortnightly, the White Hills Transfer station has provision for depositing recyclables at no direct cost to the community.

Fees and Charges are set annually with the Council Budget adoption, operation of waste transfer from arrivals at White Hills and onwards total some $140,000 annually.

Council is reviewing waste management practices and it is anticipated that later this year further news may be announced relating to green waste.

Fees work on either pay direct at White Hills or utilise the Coupon System - each property in Circular Head receives ten (10) coupons per financial year. Each coupon has a value of $4.00 and the type of waste and the volume (per cubic metre) of waste determines the number of coupons White Hills Operators will require. You may receive a receipt from the operators upon request of payment of fees for the disposal of waste.
