Recreation Funding for Circular Head

The Circular Head Council welcomes the funding pledge of $750,000 by Braddon Labor candidate Sid Sidebottom and Shadow Sport and Recreation Minister Kate Lundy on a visit to Smithton on Sunday 4 November 2007.

The proposed funding was announced before an audience of 40 people and $720,000 will be expended for Stage Two of the Circular Head Community and Recreation Centre which will incorporate construction of the "Hall of Fame" entrance, extensions to the external viewing area and provide additional public conveniences and storage facilities.

"The Council is committed to extending this quality multi purpose facility. It is well recognised that sport and recreation facilities are important assets and essential providers in promoting the health and wellbeing of a community" General Manager Greg Winton said.

Mr Winton also said "providing such facilities is an important part of making sport and recreation more enjoyable and accessible; quite simply, quality facilities encourage quality participation".

The newly formed Circular Head Little Athletics Club will also benefit with $30,000 being pledged.
