Greenham Tasmania operate an Abattoir in Smithton, employing some 120 people. The operations consume almost 15% of the water supplied by Council, and represents 10-15% of the total loading on the Smithton sewage treatment plant.

On Thursday, 9 March 2006 Greenham Tasmania Pty Ltd and Circular Head Council representatives will meet to finalise future arrangements for the supply of water and acceptance of industrial liquid wastes services.

The signing represents a commitment to the region and provides a strong indication of the relationship and confidence Greenham Tasmania have in the Council and the local community.

In the past four years, Greenham Tasmania has expanded the abattoir, showed strong commitment to community activities and is now committing to service agreements until 2010.

In today's economic climate, such endeavours should be recognised. Accordingly, a media opportunity will occur.

The signing of the Agreements, which expire in 2010, will be held in the Council Chambers located in Council Administration Office, Goldie Street, Smithton on Thursday, 9 March 2006 at 3.00 pm.
