The testing regime ranges from a daily basis to every 4 months. Pesticides are tested every 2 months. Since 1990 tests have been undertaken by CCW with no significant trends of concern.

It seems irresponsible to imply a public health problem exists without a basis for such claims.

The Council is aware of recent oyster kills in Duck Bay and adjoining estuaries and understands that no clear cause has been established.

Whilst there are no farmed oysters in the vicinity of the Deep Creek outlet, Circular Head oysters are farmed within the Duck Bay. These oysters continue to receive a clean bill of health from the State Health agency.

"The reputation and quality of fresh produce is crucial to the Tasmanian economy, and Circular Head has some of the best. What more would you expect from an area that enjoys the cleanest water and cleanest air" said General Manager, Greg Winton.

Of course, the water remains safe to drink.
