At last night's meeting the Circular Head Council unanimously passed a motion of support for Premier Lennon and the State Government on their stance on the issue of old growth logging.

The Regional Forest Agreement has been signed by all parties as the Strategic Plan for the Forest Industry of this State and local industry and contractors have invested heavily on the presumption that this agreement runs its full term.

The importance of the Forest Industry to Circular Head cannot be underestimated and ending logging in old growth forests would devastate the local community and the economy of our area.

Any decision to stop old growth logging should be based on science and the long-term economic value to the State, not pre-election politics to appease the alternative voters of urban seats on mainland Australia.
