Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam today announced that replacement of the Dip Falls Bridge would start on Monday next week (31 March 2014).

“The contractors, BridgePro, anticipate that the bridge will be impassable for about nine days, whilst these works occur and to be safe, Council is advising that the bridge will be reopened on Friday 11 April,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“This timeframe will ensure the bridge is open prior to Easter and the April School Holiday period, and before the floods.”

Mayor Quilliam said the car park area, barbecue, toilets and northern steps will remain accessible to visitors during this time, however there will be no access over the river to the viewing platform and the Big Tree during this closure.

Council allocated $420,000 to replace the bridge in the 2013-2014 Annual Plan and Budget Estimates.

“This area is a very important part of our municipal area, particularly as a tourist attraction, and these works will help to ensure access to Dip Falls continues well into the future,” Mayor Quilliam said.
