Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam today announced that Council had entered into an arrangement with the Smithton Medical Centre.

“Council decided at its October meeting to work with the Smithton Medical Centre to assist with the relocation of international medical graduates to the centre following the departure of other doctors,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“This assistance will hopefully help the new recruits settle in with their families to the area and encourage them to stay in the community.”

Mayor Quilliam said while Council would not go into the level of assistance being given, it was in the interest of public health.

“Council is proud to play a role in ensuring that Circular Head residents have timely and relevant assistance in regards to their health,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“I am comforted that the assistance Council is providing will go a long way to addressing this issue in a meaningful way.”
