Circular Head General Manager Greg Winton has encouraged Circular Head residents to attend an upcoming public meeting on irrigation development in the area.

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association will be holding the meeting on Tuesday 4 December 2012 from 1pm until 2.30pm in the Britton’s Function Room at the Tall Timbers Hotel.

"The development of an irrigation scheme in Circular Head has been a long time coming and I encourage anyone interested in the future of primary production in our region to attend the meeting," Mr Winton said.

"With demand increasing for dairy products alone, it is essential that we have get as many people along to the event."

The meeting is to discuss the potential for landowners to secure long-term and reliable access to irrigation water through the development of an irrigation scheme in partnership with Tasmanian Irrigation.

"It is welcoming to get a commitment to this scheme, which once developed will cover the Togari, Woolnorth, Montagu, Edith Creek, Roger River, Mella, Forest and Irishtown districts," Mr Winton said.
