Waratah-Wynyard Mayor Robby Walsh together with Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam today announced the extension of the resource shared General Manager role for a further period with the term expiring in December 2014.

General Manager Greg Winton was the first officer to be resource shared in the agreement between the two adjoining Councils entered into in December 2008. Since then, a number of senior managers and other Council officers have also become shared.

In last year’s respective Annual Reports, twelve positions were reported as equally funded. A new Weeds Officer role, designed to further assist in managing weed infestation problems in each municipality, has been funded equally in the current financial year.

“Having worked with Mr Winton for the past 10 years I look forward to continuing a number of projects that have been developed under his guidance,” Mayor Quilliam said.

Mayor Walsh said he was very pleased to receive the General Manager’s acceptance.

“It’s a great arrangement between both Councils and I’m very happy with the shared services Mr Winton is providing,” Mayor Walsh said.

Mr Winton indicated he was pleased each Council had been prepared to continue pursuing their strategic aims via a contemporary approach to delivering services through the partnering deal and was looking forward to the challenges ahead.
