Circular Head Council and Waratah-Wynyard Council General Manager Greg Winton today announced elected members from both Councils would be attending professional development training later this month.

“Building stronger and Better Councils has been the mission since the resource sharing arrangement between both Councils began,” Mr Winton said.

“The professional development training weekend builds on this commitment by giving elected members from both Councils the opportunity to hear a selection of speakers on subjects reflective of Local Government as well as a chance to work collaboratively and network.”

Mr Winton said the professional development training weekend, to be held at Shearwater Resort between 21 and 22 July, would cover a number of topics.

“From a comprehensive overview of the role of the Auditor General to the subject of governance, the number of subjects covered over the weekend will be of great benefit to elected members,” Mr Winton said.

Mr Winton said the professional development training was just one component of both Councils’ commitment to a continuous improvement program.

“It is essential in order to build on the successes gained so far from the resource sharing arrangement that we continue to develop the skills of our elected members, management and staff,” Mr Winton said.
