On Sunday 3 April 2011 Circular Head celebrates National Youth Week with the 'Own it Youth Fest' to be held at West Esplanade, Smithton, 1:00 - 4:00pm.

Mayor Daryl Quilliam said "the event was an acknowledgement of the contribution youth made to a vibrant community."

General Manager Greg Winton said "the free event will showcase Australian Idol finalist Casey Barnes, local band Idol Fret, coastal Break Dancers and the Vertigo Rock Wall. Other entertainment includes Sumo Suits, Face Painting, the Bucking Bull and more".  

The "Own it Youth Fest" is an alcohol free event, catering for the entire family.

This event is a joint initiative of the Circular Head Council, Rural Health Tasmania and the Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation, and is funded by the Department of Premier and Cabinet through its Community Capacity Building Grants program.
