Circular Head Council recently approved funding to 14 community and sporting organisations for projects which demonstrated a contribution to the development and promotion of the community within the Circular Head area.
The funding totalling $27 654, was allocated as part of the Council's Community Small Grant Scheme for the 2011/2012 financial year.
General Manager, Greg Winton said "The Community Small Grants Scheme allows community organisations and individuals the opportunity to develop and deliver projects and activities across four categories: minor works, culture and events, health and well being, sport and recreation."
Circular Head Council invites applications for grants twice annually from community and sporting groups and other non-profit organisations. The two funding rounds are advertised on the Council's website as well as local print media in March/April and October/November.
Mr. Winton said "Community Development is about the quality of life for the community. Principles of social justice, equity, access, participation and integration are the foundations of community development. Council recognises the importance of services to our community in relation to health, social and cultural development and general well being".
