Emergency Road Closure Lades Road Bridge 2nd July 2008

Recent inspection of the Lades Road Bridge, Smithton has indicated that this bridge is in urgent need of replacement.  Increased heavy vehicle traffic flows have caused premature failure of bridge beams.  As a result the Circular Head Council has today placed a maximum load limit of 2 tonne on the Lades Road Bridge, Smithton.  The bridge will be replaced tomorrow 2nd July 2008.  Lades Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic between 8:00am and 4:00pm 2nd July 2008.

This closure will affect the residence of Lades Road and Goldings Road, Smithton.

This bridge was due to be replaced in the Summer as part of Council's ongoing maintenance program, however emergency works are now required and the bridge will be replaced sooner than originally planned in order to safeguard the users of this bridge.
