CIRCULAR HEAD COUNCIL

STARTING FOUR LOCAL PROJECTS IN FOUR DAYS

The Circular Head Council has engaged recreation consultants Inspiring Place to undertake four recreation planning projects in Stanley and Smithton. The four projects are for preparing:

  • a walking tracks plan for Smithton
  • a walking tracks plan for Stanley
  • a master plan for West Esplanade foreshore in Smithton
  • a master plan for King Park in Stanley

The consultant team will be working in both towns on these projects from Monday 16 to Thursday 19 April.

The walking tracks plans are to assess existing tracks and look at the feasibility of developing new walking tracks within the two towns. Recreational walking is the most popular activity undertaken in Tasmania and walking tracks provide benefits such as improved access, safety, health and wellbeing.

The master plans will identify what improvements need to be undertaken at the West Esplanade foreshore area in Smithton and the small historic King Park in Stanley.

The community is invited to contribute their ideas on these four projects and they can do this by coming along to:

Stanley Walking Tracks Community Forum at the Town Hall in Stanley starting at 7pm on Monday 16th April

Smithton Walking Tracks Community Forum at the Council Chambers in Smithton starting at 7pm on Monday 16 April

Walk and Talk at West Esplanade foreshore (Smithton) starting at the foreshore at 5.30pm on Tuesday 17 April

Walk and Talk at King Park (Stanley) starting at the foreshore at 5.30pm on Wednesday 18 April

Based on the site visits and community consultation, the consultant team will prepare draft plans for exhibition and invite public review and comment during May.
