  Passing of Cr Bernard Charles

Mayor Ross Hine today reflected on the passing of Cr Bernard Charles on Sunday 15 July.

"Bernard had only indicated at the last Council meeting that he had a serious illness. We are all shocked at the loss."

Mayor Hine indicated that as a serving Circular Head Councillor for the last 15 years, the wealth of experience held by Cr Charles would be impossible to replace. "As Councillors, we all referred to his knowledge of meeting procedures and governance processes" said Mayor Hine.

Councillor Charles was admired for his sense of fairness and equality that was portrayed through his decision making and his ability to think issues through was a great benefit to his peers.

"I convey heartfelt sympathies to Lorraine and family on behalf of my fellow Councillors, staff and the community" said Mayor Hine.

A period of one minutes silence will be observed at the Council meeting to be held this Thursday evening.

End.
