"Whilst the calculations for the total payable and the pension remission are correct, the remission value has not been deducted in the instalment calculations." said Mr Winton.

Rate Notices were distributed on Friday, 22 July 2005.

"We will not blame the computers, quite simply it occurred due to human error. The incident is regrettable, fortunately it can be readily rectified" confirmed Mr Winton.

Mr Winton indicated that replacement Rate Notices for the properties affected would be distributed by the end of the week.
