The recent press reports surrounding the teething problems with the slide at Dismal Swamp are disconcerting to the Circular Head Community and could impact on the upcoming tourist season.

We all agree that the issue needs to be addressed for safety reasons and tourism confidence, however, I am concerned the media focus on the slide's safety problems will deter visitors from enjoying this beautiful area.

Whilst the slide is an integral part of the tourism venture and will be closed for a period of time, Dismal Swamp is still a fantastic place to visit offering superb restaurant facilities, a forest boardwalk that is first-class and is serviced by a totally committed and friendly staff team.

The Circular Head Community is justifiably proud of this exciting new tourism venture and applauds Forestry Tasmania's investment in the district's tourism potential.
