Have your say on the Eastern Foreshore Masterplan

6 May 2013

Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam reminds the public to have their say on the draft Eastern Foreshore Landscape Development Plan.

“This plan is all about ensuring Council has a strategic plan for the future of the Eastern Foreshore of the Duck River,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“Following the completion of the footpath from Fossey Street to Cantara Road there has been an increased level of use in this area.  We need to plan ahead to ensure that future development of the eastern foreshore benefits the wider Circular Head community.”

Mayor Quilliam said the draft Eastern Foreshore Landscape Development Plan was formulated by consulting the community.

“Council’s Strategic Project Office has now completed the draft Plan to guide the future direction of this area,” Mayor Quilliam said.

“The key aim will be to enhance the Eastern Foreshore to become Smithton’s high profile recreation area along the waterfront.”

The Plan identifies and makes recommendations on improvements to significant and special features along the foreshore, vehicular and pedestrian access, furnishings such as bins, signs and barbecue facilities, and general enhancement of the existing landscape.

The Landscape Development Plan will be on display at Circular Head Council offices, 33 Goldie Street, Smithton and is available for viewing at

The community may make comment and provide feedback until 5pm 24May 2013 either in writing addressed to the General Manager, on Council’s Facebook page, or via A hard copy or a DVD copy is available from Council offices.
