Call for help to Clean Up Circular Head

21 February 2012

Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam called on residents to take part in Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 4.

"Clean Up Australia day is a great way for the community to do their bit and help clean up many areas in our municipality," Mayor Quilliam said.

"From parks, sporting fields, beaches, walking tracks, neighbourhood streets and bush land, why not pull together your own team, or join another team and help clean up."

Schools are also able to participate on Friday, March 2 with businesses rolling up their sleeves on Tuesday, February 28.

"Council registers each year and cleans up along Goldie Street and Britton Road as far as the hospital," Mayor Quilliam said.

"Council also offers free drop off of rubbish at the tip on Sunday, March 4 as long as it is in the Clean Up Australia Day bags provided."

Registrations can be made at or by phoning 1800 282 329.

There are two other Clean Up Australia activities currently registered for Circular Head.

The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service at the Arthur River Peppermint Campground BBQ shelter on Saturday, March 3 from 9am until 12.30pm. The Smithton Scout Group has also registered an activity starting at the Smithton Scout Hall on East Esplanade on Sunday, March 4 from 9am until 3pm.
