National Recycling Week To further improve recycling facilities at White Hills Transfer Station, the Council conducted a competition for school children to design new signage. The level of enthusiasm was very pleasing, particularly from the winner Ashley Nielson of the Circular Head Christian School whose "Recycle It Is Worth It" slogan is now one of the new signs erected at White Hills Transfer Station. Ashley won a prize of Books, Puzzles and Stickers and his school also received $100 which might help with reducing waste or improving recycling programs at the school.

Sewer Rate Remission

Following a sewer rate review at the Council Workshop of Thursday 5 June, Council has determined to offer a remission of 30% to residential property owners' whose sewer rate increased by more than 4% between the 2006/07 and 2007/08 financial years. The remission is in response to property revaluations conducted in 2006/07.

Water Quality – Smithton Town Water Supply

Recycle It Is Worth It

National Recycling Week To further improve recycling facilities at White Hills Transfer Station, the Council conducted a competition for school children to design new signage. The level of enthusiasm was very pleasing, particularly from the winner Ashley Nielson of the Circular Head Christian School whose "Recycle It Is Worth It" slogan is now one of the new signs erected at White Hills Transfer Station. Ashley won a prize of Books, Puzzles and Stickers and his school also received $100 which might help with reducing waste or improving recycling programs at the school.

At a special council meeting on Thursday night, 7th July, the Circular Head Council adopted the 2005-2006 Annual Plan and Budget Estimates, announcing a 2.80% increase in general rates. Rates for Water Reticulation and Sewage Disposal were not increased. A 3.5% increase in waste charges has also been implemented.
